2009.07.02 - San Francisco (part 6)

June 27, 2009 Sat (continued)

Naturally, I didn't accumulate $4.50, and I noticed that only after getting on the bus, so I ended up paying $10 for a $4.50 bus ride. I was furious about myself making such a mistake during the ride. This is one of the reasons why I should have stopped by at a restaurant before coming to the bus stop. Plus, the airport restaurant wasn't good at all, which makes the second reason. Next time, I think I'll try BART(Bay Area Rapid Transit). It's slightly more expensive, but I think they'll give me change.

The bus arrived at SFO at 11:45(25min from Mission/7th). Check-in (with one check-in baggage) finished at 11:49, leaving me too much time before the flight scheduled at 13:35. Had lunch at 12:00. Eating at airport restaurants means less food, worse quality and higher cost.

Security check around 13:00. Put my shoes, metals(e.g. belts) and wallet into a basket and passed the gate. Took only 6 minutes. The rapidness is probably due to the reduced number of passengers in the economical climate and H1N1 scare. Perhaps it would usually take more time. The plane took off at 13:35. The estimated flight length was 11 hours and 15 minutes, about an hour and a half more than the flight departing from Tokyo. The difference is due to the wind, I heard.

June 28, 2009 Sun (Japan)

Arrived at Narita around 17:00 local time and passed the inspection and the custom at 17:20. I was a bit worried about the custom part because I had lots of cloths I had bought, but the entrance was easy. I didn't declare anything because everything I bought was under $100. You're supposed to if you purchased anything costing more than that. They changed the law recently.

The bus to Shinyurigaoka departed at 18:05. There was a 17:25 one but it was already full when I arrived at the ticket counter.

Around 19:00, I began feeling sick in the rear seat. Should have taken, without hesitation, one of the front seats. I didn't take a front seat because they were in a pair of two seats and one of the two seats were mostly taken by good-looking girls. You know how it is when you decide whether or not you sit next to a beautiful looking member from the opposite sex (or the same sex if you're gay). You become nervous and often you avoid it, just to feel safe and all.

There was also a traffic jam caused by traffic restriction, because foreign VIPs were visiting. I had a terrible time on the bus. (Next)
