"Beautiful Envy (chietronix Remix)"

この曲は、chietronix による Beautiful Envy のリミックスです。1993年から1999年まで活動した Super Stupid という３ピース・ロックバンドがありますが、そのバンドのギタリスト大高ジャッキーによるエレクトロニック・ソロ・プロジェクトが chietronix です。
数年前からの知り合いで、いつもお互いの作品をチェックし合って来ました。彼が2007年にリリースした sTretch gLitch というアルバムがあるのですが、私はこの作品の大ファンです。（アルバムは iTunes Store からダウンロード可能で、アルバム中の曲の一つ Voco は彼の Myspace サイト で聴くことが出来ます。）

例えば Voco。非常にポップでエンタテイニングな曲だけど、疑いようのない「異質な」要素が、ほんの小さな断片となってあちこちに散りばめられている。その「アウト」感はバックグラウンドに隠れているのですが、曲が進むにつれ、こっそりと出てきてあなたを捕らえます。そして気がつくと、あなたは聴き始める前のあなたとは少し違う人物になっている。
彼という人はずっと昔から知っている誰かのようでもあるし、また同時に全く未知の異星人という風でもある。
sTretch gLitch は、彼がいわゆる「グリッチ」なサウンドを試みた非常にエレクトロニックなアルバムですが、このリミックスでは EDIROL HQ-OR Orchestral によるクラシック楽器の音色を用いています。このソフトウェアは私もオリジナル版で使いました。彼がリミックスで用いた音色は、バイオリン（x2）、ビオラ、チェロ、フルート（x2）、ブラス、オーケストラル・シンバルです。前作のアルバムであれほど高い音楽性を実現した後に、さらにまた新しい挑戦をこの作品でしてくれていることをとても光栄に思います。
バイオリンの速いパッセージと、コーラスでのアンサンブルがとても気持ちいい。危うさと清涼感が共にある感じ。2ndコーラスからチェロが入って厚みが増し、間奏でオリジナル版からフルート・フレーズを引用し、ラスト・コーラスでクライマックスを迎えます。みなさんも私と同じぐらいこのリミックスを楽しんで下さることを願っています。
